Chengdu Waldorf school |
teacher/volunteerTeaching in our School There are friends have been supporting us for many years from all over the world. They raise funds, collect materials for our school or offer teaching in our training program. They are part of our working group, Some of them have taught in our school more then once, they are continually coming. We are very much depending on those support. There are some kind of destiny involve that those friends become a part of the movement in China. We hire foreign language teachers from abroad mainly German and English teachers. They also speak basic Chinese. They get the highest pay in the school; it will be enough to live in China but not in their home country. We are looking for Eurythmist who can teach in Chinese. We love to have some teachers who take a year off from the teaching to work with our teachers side by side.
Volunteering in our School
There are many young people would like to work in our school as a volunteers for a short time. We do except one Germany young man for a year very year. They are doing social service abroad instead of military service. There were some waldorf graduates came for a few weeks too. They may stay with a parent of school. They come to the school with the children and leave in the end of the day. They will be asked to do some odd jobs if they are able. Most of them assist teachers. They get a free food and lodge from our parents. A typical jobs for the social serve folks are watching children play during the school section, before and after school. They are expected to do some odd jobs such as assistant teachers for their lesson, teach Germany, work on the garden, prepare for the festivals etc. In General, Children love to inter act with our volunteers. Many children will climb up his schuders and backs. Some time, he will get tied and do not know how to say no to children. Children do not know much about the physical boundary. We require all volunteers must speak basic Chinese before he come. Our children will not be able to communicate in foreign language yet. All our volunteers do speak Chinese and end up speak very fluently by the end of his service. They did not find it is very hard to manage with the language. All young people had a hard time to adjust in the first two months living in China. They are homesick and need to overcome the cold weather, hot spicy food and culture shock. Almost all of them want to leave if they can in the first two months. But, they enjoy it after that hardship is over. Our parents of the school are very generous. They often invite our volunteers go out to eat and travel in the weekends. |
