grade school

Our school is growing even without classrooms, land and fund. We “officially” started our first grade in the fall of 2006. Our   previous classes were only for our children which was third and forth grade. Then, children joint in. There are more then dozen children in each of the class now. There were four children came from our kindergarten and three children came from outside. Our first grade school teacher was an editor and fairly tale writer. She had edited a couple of books on Waldorf education and had been a kindergarten assistant teacher for a half year. She changed her life in her mid life.

The newest first grade lead by Lixia who was a college teacher.  She has 14 children in the first grade in 2007. It is the biggest class in the grade school.

She moved to Chengdu two years ago for enrolling her son to our school. She was an assistant and taught music for a  year. She also went to Australia taking 10 weeks intensive course before the school started this fall. The first grade parents are very happy to have her.

We also have a few new students joint in the second, third, forth and sixth grade. We do not have fifth grade. The grade school also moved to a new building. The building was a country bar before. It has been abandoned for 10 years. We rented it and totally renewed it. There are two big rooms and 10 small rooms. It fix all the grade school there, But, it is hard for the children to do morning circles in such small rooms.

We are very glad to have Astrid come teach German from Stuggart. She is a graduate from the first Waldorf School in Stuggart. She also got a Master degree in Sinology speaking perfect Chinese. It is a gift from the God that she joins us.

In the beginning of the school, Kathleen and Tim Young came again. They spent six weeks with us last year. All our teachers wished them come back. Our school parents raising money to cover their airfare. It is very important to have such experience teacher sit in the classroom to watch our teachers teaching. Then, she will review in our teachers. We will need more such kind of help.
